Huelva gets bigger slice of the cake
In the Budget for 2008, approved by the Government of Andalucia, the province of Huelva comes out in first place in terms of the amount of money per citizen allotted for the next year.

In a press conference, the delegate of the Andalucian Government in Huelva, Justo Mañas, accompanied by the Agriculture and Fishing representative, Isaiah Perez Saldaña, described the budget as "excellent" and emphasized that the investments in the province increase by 16.7 percent with respect to 2007. In addition, he pointed out that Huelva will be the province receiving the most investment per inhabitant, with 876.7 euros, which is an increase of the 15.5 percent and 117.7 euros,
Mañas indicated that the largest part of the budget investments will be destined to Public Works and Transport, with a total of 93.5 million euros, of which 17.4 million euros in the conservation and repair of the highway system. 12 million will be spent on improving road security and 8 million on the Metropolitan South Connection, linking Huelva to Punta Umbria with a new direct connection across the marshes that separate the two towns. In addition, 6.8 million euros will be spent for the connections of the A-49 with the Antilla, Islantilla and the Redondela.
For Agriculture, the Government has allotted 78 million euros, for the Environment 61.5 million euros, of which 10.9 will be destined to the infrastructure development and management of hydric resources; 6,6 for the prevention and fighting fires and 3,5 for the cleaning and purification of water in the province.
Work and on-job training programs get 57.2 million and the Delegation of Innovation, Science and Business will receive 46 million euros, of which the University of Huelva will get six million; another eleven will be used to develop programs to incentivate the creation of entrepreneurs and enterprise development; and ten will be destined to the rehabilitation of industrial zones with contaminated lands.
The Delegation of Education will count on 33.7 million euros and Tourism will have a budget of 20.7 million euros, of which 1.7 will be invested in an integral beach plan, and 5 that will serve to construct new sport facilities.
