It’s a Limo...but it’s also a Ferrari
In the category of "oh no he dih-ehhhnt," we offer for your enjoyment a stretch Ferrari limo, complete with round tail lights, ceramic brakes and nine-foot gullwing doors. We're not sure if the doors quite warrant the brooming of the mini-bar, but to each his own. The beauty in question was commissioned by by Style Limousines of Manchester and involved almost $400,000 in mods, not the least of which was welding in the massive middle that makes the pony stretch so. The extra length isn't enough to slow this Ferrari down much, however -- 0-60 in under six seconds and a top speed of 170 ain't too shabby.
The best moment for Dan Cawley, the creator of this stretch Ferrari, is when he whizzes past other drivers of more mundane cars on the motorway. "You can't beat the look on people's faces when you overtake them and the car just keeps on coming past," he said.

The Ferrari Limousine is actually made from the Ferrari 360 Modena. In order to make it to a limousine, its developer Dan Cowley had to chop it in half and the rear was stretched in the form of the 9.5 ft carbon fiber. Dan Cowley worked on this project with former McLaren carbon fiber expert Chris Wright.
This very unique vehicle is built with amazing features and amenities as well. You’d have to be blind not to notice the gull wing doors it sports. Inside is an amazing entertainment system with a 10-inch flat screen monitor and 6 speaker surround system and DVD. It took £200, 000 to complete this astounding project.
So all in all, their creation now measures 23 feet in length and is capable of seating up to eight persons. Aside from the comfort that’s usually associated with limos, this new Ferrari-Limo also boasts superb performance on the road. So far it is the fastest limousine ever, revving with a maximum speed of 170mph using its 3.6 liter V8 engine. With its kind of speed and appearance, no wonder it is being spruced up for Guinness Book of World Records, not for one title but two! It will be “The Fastest Limousine” and “The Longest Ferrari”.
The other Ferrari Limo
In the world of the uber-rich, of course, competition knows no bounds. So we should expect nothing less of the market for Ferrari stretch limousines. It has come to light that there is already a Ferrari limo, live and operating in the U.S.A..
It may not have the kind of gullwing doors sported by the British built limo, but this six-passenger model from Philadelphia-based Ali Baba Limousine isn't exactly a Mini Cooper either. It's also a relative bargain to rent. The original world's first stretched Ferrari can be hired for the princely sum of US$400 an hour from Ali Baba Limousines in Philadelphia PA. Ali Baba specializes in exotic limos - the stable includes stretched versions of some serious automotive unobtanium, including Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz, Range Rover, Hummer, and getting into "oh, how could they" territory a stretched Porsche Cayenne, a stretched Excalibur, and, heaven forbid, a stretched 1952 MG (sob!).
So the good news is that if you really want to ride in a stretch Ferrari, you can now do it on both sides of the Atlantic.
The World Limosine Convoy
Now imagine being part of a Guinness World Record attempt and getting a ride in a super stretch limousine at the same time – well, now you can with the help of limousine hire firms from all over the U.K.. Party-goers are being urged to contact their local limousine hire company and encourage them to take part in a unique record breaking event and raise much needed money for charity at the same time.
For the first time, the limousine industry is holding an event in Blackpool which can only be described as ‘A golden mile of limousines’, as more than two hundred stretched limousines are expected to descend on the famous Blackpool attraction in a unique record attempt. Supported by European Limousine News, the magnificent convoy which will be over a mile long, will congregate at the Blackpool strip on Monday 8th October 2007. Officials from The Guinness Book of World Records will be there to witness the attempt which is expected to be awarded the ‘World Record Limousine Convoy.’
The event will see a wide variety of limousines leaving from a large number of major towns and cities and head for Blackpool in time for the attempt at 20:15. All limousines and their passengers will be welcomed by the Mayor Robert Wynne as they cross the line on the Blackpool Strip. A large section of the Golden Mile will be closed off to cater for the record attempt.
Those wishing to take part and be a passenger in the ‘Golden mile of limousines’, are being encouraged to contact their local limousine hire firms to see if they are taking part, and if not, encourage them to do so. The limousine operator will decide the cost of the journey from your town, but a minimum of £25 is expected from each passenger. Half of the money raised during this event will be donated to the Mayors charity and the remaining will be given to the limousine owners charity of their choice. More than £40,000 is expected to be raised during the one day event.
Sir Jimmy Savile will also be supporting the record attempt which is already being labeled as one of the largest gathering of stretched limousines in the world. The world’s first stretched Ferrari limousine will be leading the convoy which will also see a host of celebrities taking part. Local businesses, limousine operators and those who wish to travel in the vehicles are being invited to take part and sponsor the limousines, arrange a corporate day-out with their colleagues, or simply a fun night out with their friends.
If you wish to take part please contact your local limousine firm or contact Russ on 07751 430130. Visit limoconvoy.com for more information. |
