Panel affirms that an airport must be sited at the "heart of the Coast"
HUELVA. Doctor in Geography, Jose Manuel Sworn, author of the study on the viability of the airport in the province of Huelva, demanded the streamlining of the project for the construction of the facilities, and emphasized that the well-known zone as ' the Marquesadó is the ideal for its location.
The panel, which included the deputy mayor of Lepe, recalled that the this zone, located on the limit of the municipalities of Lepe , Isla Cristina and Ayamonte, would be the most suitable location for this improvement to the local infrastructure, "since a stopping place of the future BIRD is contemplated there".
Dr Sworn stated that it is "incomprehensible" that Huelva continues to be without an airport, citing that after the construction of an airport at Almeria, "its tourist and agricultural development took off".
Equally, the report by Dr Sworn recalled that the Seville airport does not solve the aviation infrastructure deficiency in Huelva, since "if it were near our province another rooster would sing, but we need our own airport because the one at Seville is not suited to our interests". In his opinion, the future airport must be at the heart of the Coast, which he reiterated would be the best place, due to its proximity to the A-49 railway network. |
