Once again, suspicions that the General Plan serves the interests of a few construction and city-planning companies, the ghosts of whose massive speculation and corruption hang over this town. These suspicions are further reinforced by the attempt by a local government faction aimed at preventing the municipal opposition groups and the general public from studying the document, the approval of which was tabled in a special emergency plenary session on 20th June.
After presenting a document of some 1,500 pages and 300 maps for the consideration of the three opposition groups with only 4 days for its study, the PSOE has singularly rejected the IU proposal to extend the term by a minimum of 20 days, since its reading by 3 groups in turn in 3 days is patenty impossible.
Furthermore, this PGOU includes an attempt to be integrated with the Territorial Works Plan (POT) for the West Andalucian Coast which has not yet been approved by the Union of Andalusia and could actually be negated by the determined efforts of the Punta Umbria City council.
In practise, this was a further shameless 'night raid' by a Mayor and team who actions cast Ayamonte in the same league as certain Costa del Sol Councils. The IU, together with the other opposition groups, have denounced this situation before the Public Works Delegation of Huelva and are taking steps to call attention to what may result in a further lamentable city-planning manipulation on the coast, resulting, as before, in the destruction of our landscape.
This statement was released by Councillor Fdo. Antonio Miravent Martín, Spokesman for the IU Municipal Group.
