Ayamonte City Council signs construction contract for Palace of Congress
The Mayor of Ayamonte (Huelva), Sr Rafael González, and the representative of Begar Construcciones y Contratas S.A., Sr Galician Antonio, today signed a contract for construction works to begin shortly for a Palace of Congress for the locality.
The project was designed by the architects Miguel Angel francisco Santos, Camilo Silva Nieto, Maria Gonzalez Garcia, Juan Jose Lopez de la Cruz and the Technical architect Rafael Luna Gonzalez.
The centre will be located in the present fairground area, between Avenidas Juan Antonio González and Cayetano Feu, and is intended to boost touristic interest in the city and improve the hotel and restaurant trade
The works are estimated to last a year and a budget of around the 6m euros has been allocated. The Mayor emphasised, in a European press release, that the Council "has chosen the best company and now it trusts that the work does not defraud", to which the construction company responded that, "although we are a company that, until now, has not undertaken outstanding works in Huelva, we have a significant record in Andalusia, which is our guarantee.".
Sr Gallego thanked the City Council of Ayamonte and the Delegation of Huelva for their confidence in choosing them for this important project and indicated that "the works will be executed in the predicted term" adding that "already they are in hand, although still without physical presence in the city, and we are in course of setting up a complex structure.". In this regard, the area will soon be fenced off with a view to carrying out geotéchnical studies and the necessary ground soundings. Further, it was indicated that the laying of the first foundation stone will shortly be achieved, although the building, in accordance with the terms of the contract, would be finalised at the end of 2007.
