Pistorius probably out of Olympics
Oscar Pistorius, the double amputee world record-holder at 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres, is almost certain to have his dream of competing at the Beijing Olympic Games shattered in the next few days. Professor Peter Brüggemann, the scientist in Cologne who has conducted tests on the South African at the behest of the IAAF, told a German newspaper that Pistorius’s curved carbon fibre blades give him a “considerable advantage” over his able-bodied rivals.

Led Zeppelin triumph
Led Zeppelin reunited for a much-anticipated concert at London's O2 Arena on Monday (Dec. 10), playing for more than two hours as part of a benefit for the late Atlantic Records founder and producer Ahmet Ertegun. It was the first time the band played a full set together since 1980, and the reviews are stellar. The band consisted of the three surviving members, singer Robert Plant, 59, Page, 63, and bassist John-Paul Jones, 61, with the late John Bonham's son Jason, 41, on drums.

Capello in pole position after Mourinho says no
Fabio Capello looks increasingly likely to be given the chance to turn the impossibe job into an Italian job after Jose Mourinho definitively ruled himself out of contention to succeed Steve McClaren as the England manager.
