Costa de la Luz property in good shape
Average property prices in Spain increased by 1.4 per cent last month, according to figures recently published. Despite reports of price falls in some Spanish cities and concern in some quarters the market may be in trouble, the country as a whole saw average prices increase during September.
The average price for a property across the country increased to €248,000 (£172,640) in October. However, the present levels are a mere 0.7 per cent higher than October 2005.

Around the World in 13 years…and a bit
Shortly after noon on October 6th, watched by a crowd of more than 100, a weather-beaten Englishman steered a pedalo up the Thames, put it on a trolley and pulled it across the Meridian line at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. For some observers, this was a vaguely surreal spectacle, and reassurance perhaps that some still uphold the national reputation for eccentric endeavour.
For Jason Lewis, however, it was the end of a 46,505-mile odyssey that took him 4,833 days and saw him become the first person to complete a human-powered circumnavigation of the world. Shunning motor, sail and anything other than his own muscle power, Mr Lewis has kayaked, rollerbladed, bicycled, pedalled, paddled, walked and swum his way around the world.

Barrister jailed for 12 months
A barrister became the first member of his profession to be jailed for perverting the course of justice yesterday after sending bogus court documents to his client's opponent. Bruce Hyman, a radio and theatre producer who retrained as a barrister, engineered a fraud in an apparent effort to discredit the former husband of a friend he was representing in a family court case.Hyman, who is also a scriptwriter and produced the radio version of Douglas Adams' cult classic The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, was jailed for 12 months at Bristol Crown Court but will be released on parole after six months. Hyman, who was inspired to take up law while producing the Radio 4 legal programme Unreliable Evidence, fabricated evidence that could have led to an innocent man being jailed.

It’s a Limo...but it’s also a Ferrari
In the category of "oh no he dih-ehhhnt," we offer for your enjoyment a stretch Ferrari limo, complete with round tail lights, ceramic brakes and nine-foot gullwing doors. We're not sure if the doors quite warrant the brooming of the mini-bar, but to each his own. The beauty in question was commissioned by by Style Limousines of Manchester and involved almost $400,000 in mods, not the least of which was welding in the massive middle that makes the pony stretch so. The extra length isn't enough to slow this Ferrari down much, however -- 0-60 in under six seconds and a top speed of 170 ain't too shabby.
The best moment for Dan Cawley, the creator of this stretch Ferrari, is when he whizzes past other drivers of more mundane cars on the motorway. "You can't beat the look on people's faces when you overtake them and the car just keeps on coming past," he said.
