The Ayamonte City Council distributes palitas (scoops) and bags so that the proprietors of dogs may more easily gather up from our streets the poops of their mascots. The Environment Department of the City Council of Ayamonte has presented, in a recent press conference, a campaign for the collection of canine excrement. |

Overjoyed and amazed

Yes it really does happen - a tight head to be proud of by the new bowlers at Canela.
The article in the April issue attracted eight new bowlers - mostly new residents!
As a result, there are now plans afoot for friendly matches, against several of the established clubs along the Algarve, both home at Isla Canela Golf Club and away.

CHAMPIONS!
Mid April was a time of jubilation and celebrations for the Ayamonte Football Club as they moved from the First Regional Division to the 3rd Division, group 10. The team started playing well at the beginning of the season and things just kept getting better with some matches resulting in 10-0 and 7-0 wins. The definitive match was on the 22nd April against Bollulos Olympica Valderde, with Ayamonte winning 9-5 and gaining their place in the 3rd Division.

Fort restoration at Castro Marim
Renovations at the St Sebastiãn Fort in Castro Marim, 3km North of Vila Real de Santo Antonio, having crossed on the river ferry from Ayamonte, and roughly the same distance to the South from the first exit after crossing the International Bridge across the River Guadiana, will commence in October 2006, following the recent allocation of public funding by the muncipal council. |
