Beckham's early adios in spite of support David Beckham made a very public show of commitment to Real Madrid when he attended their match against Real Zaragoza, but his departure from the Bernabeu could be a question of days, rather than months. Beckham, now 31, agreed to serve out the remaining 6 months of his contract at Madrid before leaving for LA Galaxy at the end of the Spanish season. However, Real coach, Fabio Capello, is likely to have brought forward Beckham's exit after he warned that the Englishman had played his last game for the club. |

England's dismal Ashes tour of Australia took an embarrassing turn prior to the 4th Test in Melbourne when their carefully-prepared bowling plans fell into the hands of Australia's ABC Radio. The broadcaster claimed they had been e-mailed the plans by an un-named source and proceeded to read them out on air as Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds turned the screw during their extraordinary 279-run partnership.

Brian Ashton has become England's head coach through to the end of the Rugby World Cup next October. Handing over to Ashton, the national side's attack coach, for the defence of the trophy won 3 years ago in Sydney will be the easy part of Rob Andrew's job this week.
