Rhiannon Linacre has entered the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest girl ever to score a hole-in-one. She achieved the feat after her 20th only attempt at a par 3 hole and only 3 months after first picking up a club. The youngster was playing at the Coxmoor Golf Club in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts, in June. |

Former France captain, Michel Platini, has become the next UEFA president, elected at the UEFA Congress in Dusseldorf by 27 votes to 23 to serve for the next 4 years. His election follows a tense campaign, which descended into bitterness in the days leading up to the vote - making him the most powerful man in European football - striking a potential blow to the standing of English clubs within Europe. Platini, 51, is to present proposals in April which, from 2009-10, will limit the number of clubs in Europe's elite competition to 3 from any one country.

Federer's 10th Grand Slam
Roger Federer claimed the 10th Grand Slam title of his career with a straight sets victory over Fernando Gonzalez in the final of the Australian Open. The World No 1 stretched his unbeaten run to 36 matches in securing a 3rd straight win Down Under. "I've had a great run here again this year and I'm very proud to be holding this trophy. Fernando is one of the great guys on the tour and I am happy for him to have played so well here." Federer said.
