Barrymore Walks Free
The entertainer Michael Barrymore was told yesterday that he will not face charges in connection with the death of a young man during a party at his home six years ago. The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed there was "insufficient evidence" to charge Barrymore with any offence in relation to the death of Stuart Lubbock, whose body was found in his swimming pool in March 2001. Lubbock, 31, a meat factory supervisor, had suffered severe internal injuries, suggesting sexual assault. Barrymore, 55, a one-time high-flying television personality, maintained he had found Mr Lubbock’s body in his swimming pool and has always denied any involvement in his death.

World's biggest diamond unearthed
The world's biggest diamond has been discovered in the North-West Province of South Africa. The find has electrified the diamond community, but the circumstances of the discovery are shrouded in mystery. The diamond, weighing an astonishing 7,000 carats or 42oz would make it over twice as big as the previous record holder for a rough, gem-quality diamond, the 3,106-carat Cullinan found in 1905 near Pretoria.
The diamond is expected to attract furious bidding from buyers worldwide and could fetch up to £15m. A spokesman for the mining house which made the find, Brett Joli, said the diamond was being rushed to a bank vault in Johannesburg and would be kept there for a couple of days "until we calm down and decide what we are going to do". A security company was being hired to protect the precious stone.
